Prelude and two Minuets for Ori / Omer Katzir

Standard

First of all, forgive my poor video editing skills, I’m not a video editor, so every video I upload is a challenge, this one was even more challenging because it’s not one musical piece, but three! That been said, let us start. As the name suggests, this work start with a prelude followed by two minuets, a major one and a minor one.

A note about interpretation and articulation

I usually don’t include any articulation marks or any instructions on my music, I leave that to the performer, whoever that may be. Tempo comes in first it’s 100 for the prelude and 90 for the minuets but it’s should actually be moderato (i.e. 108-120) As for articulations, whatever sounds good for you, is probably right, just don’t go too crazy and articulate every single dotted note. In my mind, articulation should be done gracefully.

An error

At the end of the first Minuet, there’s a repeat missing (it does appears at the start of the section), I couldn’t find out why Lilypond won’t allow me to put the repeat there, so please don’t forget to repeat the section as intended.

P.S.

This is by far the most complected and longest composition I’ve written to date.

Ori’s Waltz / Omer Katzir

Standard

Nothing too much to write about, it a slow and very simple waltz dedicated to my wonderful niece, Ori Livnie.

Well, there actually few things to write about it. For one, I play in faster tempo, about 110. Second, 4th bar, I don’t play it as written, I play the first chord as dotted one and shorter with the second chord. Finally, I use different chord at the end of the second part, just go G# Minor in any position you like.

It’s more of educational piece for beginning students as it’s very easy to analyze with guitar tablature for new students without musical background. Composed at October 2nd 2020, recorded at the 9th.

Fantasy III / Omer Katzir

Standard

My third, and probably shortest Fantasy. According to the file, I finished it in April 7th 2018 and recorded on a Piano in April 2nd 2022.

Although it’s a Piano recording, the original was written for Lute. There are several errors in the tablatures such as bar 6 and bar 16, in bar 6 for example a note is clearly missing from the tablature. In the recording itself there’s also an error where the sol (g) in bar 18 is shorter compared to notation.

I’ve also encountered several problems while recording, and the Piano sounds a bit dry, that’s because I only had one microphone and a very bad one, apologies on that. I already ordered a new microphone.

Finally, you can see I’ve changed the background of the video from the cloud to underwater, that’s because my FCPX, for some reason, does not show me the Cloud background anymore 🙁 in fact, I had to use iMovie for this one because FCPX doesn’t show me any backgrounds. I’m hope you’ll like it anyway!

Relaunching the site!

Standard

After a long time of downtime I have decided to reopen my website with new host (Bluehost), hopefully, this time it will not be taken down by some weird glitches.

I will upload all my music again, one day at a time. You are welcome to register and follow me in this new adventure with new music for both Lute and Guitar. All music is being recorded by a friend and uploaded to YouTube in either Piano and Organ, most music will also include Guitar or Lute Tablatures.

So what happened? Well, with the old host, some upgrade completely destroyed WordPress and I couldn’t fix it without paying for better Linux server, after that I’ve tried to use my personal server but it was too weak to handle even basic needs. After playing around with my newer server, I decided the best option will be to purchase from a real service provider.

On to the future: As I mentioned, I will publish again all my older compositions, but of course, I will publish new compositions too. I will usually upload a recording to YouTube first followed by a post with the music sheet. I use Lilypond to transcribe all my music as I find it the easiest and most accurate. I

I will also upload soon™️ a donation via Bitcoin, Dogecoin and PayPal for any one who offers financial support.

Thank You Very Much,

Omer Katzir, aka, The Silent Troubadour
