I keep working and this week, this nice little galliard by the Italian Pietro P. Borrono (1490-1563). I think this galliard have a very nice tune, moving from low to high and back in a very elegant way, I always wonder how the courts looked like when playing these dances.
Early Music
Pavana alla Veneciana / Hans Judenkunig
StandardA nice, little happy pavan. Lute by James Marriage (2006) after Hans Frei.
By now I already got used to the new equipment, I still need to find the right mix of frets and strings to perfect the sound. Some even suggested a new lute but that’s all I can afford right now.
Recercar #76 / Franciscus Bossinensis
StandardIt’s a nice, little Recercar. And, there’s nothing much more to say about it. Well, it’s the first piece by Bossinensis I’ve played and the first I recorded, not sure how I feel about him yet, will play more pieces from him in time.
Also, I’ve decided to move for a two week publishing schedule, I want to focus more on my project and less on videos. So click the follow button, and you can also follow me on Twitter, FaceBook and Instagram.
Packington’s Pound / Anonymous
StandardIn retrospective, perhaps a faster tempo. But what is done cannot be undone, unless I record it again 😛 Lute by James Marriage (2006) after Hans Frei
Also, I’m thinking of switching to twice-a-month upload schedule for better time management, it’s quite hard for me to move between working on the album, recording for YouTube, and keep my mental health in check. On one hand, recoding to YouTube makes me really happy, on the other it also takes a lot of time and effort. I haven’t made a final decision yet, so your opinion matters.
Tastar de Corde / Joan Ambrosio Dalza
Standard13 years, 13 years have passed since I first recorded this amazing piece of music, perhaps one of my most favorite pieces in the history of music. Same lute, but not same me. Lute by James Marriage (2006) after Hans Frei. Also, there’s a link to the first recording.
Puis qu’en deux coeurs / Pierre Blondeau
StandardThe lute is back, after several years, with the new gear, new strings, new frets and new me!
Now, I know the title in the video says Pierre Attaingnant, but it’s the wrong Pierre. Lute by James Marriage (2006) after Hans Frei.
Fantasy VII
StandardThis is one of these pieces that refuse to leave you. The theme was stuck in my head until I wrote it, the cadences refused to leave me alone until I solved them and it was a good brain practice.

Prelude II / Omer Katzir
StandardA Prelude, to what? I don’t know! It came out just the way I heard it, not complicated but still with some meat.
Fantasy VI / Omer Katzir
StandardStill playing with the same theme from Fantasy IV, but this is the last time, I promise. It had some challenges, but it’s the beauty of Counterpoint.
